Energy Web

About Energy Web:

Energy Web (EW) is a global organization accelerating the transition to a low-carbon, customer-centric electricity system by unleashing the potential of blockchain and decentralized technologies. EW focuses on technology integration and development, co-creating standards and architectures, speeding adoption, and building community. In 2019, EW launched the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System (EW-DOS), its open-source software stack. Based on detailed business and technical requirements from the global energy blockchain community, EW-DOS is a public, open-source  stack of decentralized technologies for connecting customers, assets, and existing energy sector IT and OT systems with energy markets and programs in every regulatory context one can imagine. EW’s primary focus is customizing and deploying EW-DOS to help automotive OEMs, DER companies, electric utilities and grid operators unlock business value in the context of a rapidly changing energy sector. To deliver on its mission, EW has also curated a global consortium of 70+ Members, including energy companies, utilities, grid operators, startups, and software developers. In June 2019, EW and its Members deployed the Energy Web Chain, a public, Proof-of-Authority blockchain specifically designed for enterprise applications in the energy sector. The EW Chain is the first public network to feature large energy corporations (including Fortune 100 utilities and energy companies) alongside innovative startups as validator nodes. To date, we count more than 45 established companies hosting validator nodes across 15 countries spanning 17 time zones.
